Banco Credicoop Cooperativo Limitado resulted from the merger of 44 Cooperative Credit Unions, the longest of them being established in 1918. Later on, and joining forces, they incorporated the Cooperative Bank in 1979. Credicoop is a non-profit institution whose aim, on the basis of the principle of reciprocal aid, is to offer financial services to all its members. These members run the bank through the Board of Directors elected according to the principle: "one member, one vote". Furthermore, each member can participate in the institutional life of the Bank thanks to the Commissions of Associates which exist in each branch and cooperate with the Board.
